2001 gt question
I have a 2001 GT 36k miles.. i bough tit used at 23k.. about 2 yrs ago.. It is a daily driver.. wat my question is .. its starting to clank into gears and also going from 1st to 2nd is getting harder and harder.. not smooth sailin into gear like grabs it and u can feel it.. also going into reverse sometimes.. is dam near impossible it seems you have to put osme strict force behind it to make it go into gear... could this be clutch related? or possible tranny..Bc i got power train warrenty from the dealership.. but they want 85 to even check it out.. thought i would ask on here first,
well the throwout bearing you can hear with even the slightest pressure on the clutch pedal. i had a 2000 gt and i had problems getting it into reverse, no problems with 1st or 2nd though. is it grinding at all or just hard to put into gear?
right now really hard.but when it grabs its like a jaws of life grabin on to something wat it feels like anyways. oh forgot to mention if im getting on the highway .. when i start to get over 4grand, i hear like this idk how to explain it noise coming from right under the center councel like a loud vibrating noise..
i've got the same problem getting my '02 GT into reverse sometimes. i have to put it in 1st gear and then it will go into reverse... weird, but i've heard about a lot of cars having the same issue. your problems shifting though, if you have warranty from the dealership then you're going to have to take it to them anyway, so just let them check it out. you can probably diagnose the problem and fix it yourself, but paying $85 for the dealership to fix it under warranty is cheaper than possibly spending a couple hundred (or more) to fix it yourself. sounds to me like something inside the transmission, if it were the throwout bearing then you'd probably have some grinding while shifting gears (especially going from neutral to first gear when you first start it up).
