Default NEED ADVICE!!!

I own a 2002 stock Jack Roush Stage 1, and I am looking to pu**** tothe 400 rwhp range. I am on a semi-tight budget, and would like to maintain drivability.I have heard just throwing on a sc but am unaware of what else would need to accompany the sc.....

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the Stage I pretty much the body kit with no serious mods? 400 hp w/ just a s/c? Being on a semi tight budget is going to be a PITA to get into the 400hp area. I could be wrong and hopefully someone will chime in and give you more advice.

It has no current performance mods, I am looking to spend no more than 6k on doing this project...I have been looking at a Vortech sc with 42# injectors, svt focus fuel pump, but from there I am unawareof what else will need to accompany the sc and what will need to be added to push me past the 400 mark.....

An intercooler or methanol kit, bigger MAF, good tune, off road midpipe, throttle body and plenum, and about 12psi should get you around the 400 mark.

you could also try installing a stage 2 cam, upgrade springs, and also port and polish your heads.

Its not psi that kills motors, its too much hp, too much rpm, and ****ty tunes (cause detonation). Yes your stock internals can handle 12 psi, the reason that most people don't recommend going that high on a stock 4.6 is that usually at 12psi you are pushing over 400hp. It's kind of a gamble at those power levels on a stock shortblock, some peoples motors last a long time above 400hp and some blow before even hitting 400. IMO its all in the tune. As long as you have a good (conservative) tune you should be fine.
