Default safe power level?

i just bought a Vortech s/c, it's a 10 psi setup with aftercooler, i've got all stock internals, 75mm tb/plenum, and cat-back exhaust. what kind of power can i expect from this setup? i'm not sure if i'll be at the 400 rwhp level, but if i do get there, how far can i go on the stock rods? i've heard some people say 400 rwhp, and others say 450 rwhp on the stock rods is safe.

380-400, you need an intercooler though imo.

Its really a roll of the dice when your up in or past the 400hp mark. There is no "safe" limit. If you get a ****ty tune you can **** your pistons at 350. On the other side of the coin, there are people running over 400rwhp even some in the 450 range on stock internals with no issues. The best thing you can do to prevent damage is make sure you get a safe tune and don't over rev your engine. Anything over 12.0 A/F abov 3k at WOT on a centri is a time bomb, the same goes for timing. Make sure your running no more than 20 degrees total timing (some will say thats even too much).

yeah i called the shop that's going to be doing the tune and they asked what exactly i was going for with this setup, and i told them i'd rather sacrifice a few horses and have a safe tune than go all out and blow the engine up in 6 months. if i hit 350 rwhp i'll be happy, i'd like to have about 375 though so i'm hoping that's possible with a safe tune.

another question... i'm going to have to drive the car from my house to the shop after i put the s/c on, it's about 5 miles away. do i need to do anything with my tune to make it safe to drive up there? go back a couple degrees on the timing and richen up the a/f mix just to be safe?

I have the vortech v 1 strim with the small 3.33 puleey and vortech aftercooler. you will have no problem getting 350 plus out of it. I am running between 10 and 11 lbs of boost.you wont need an intercooler the aftercooler will do just fine.

i reccomend asking the tuner to make you a tune to drive it there since you need to put the 42lb injectors and maf in and stuff. even though i think my car ran on stock tune with those components once, its hard to remember. but my tuner made me a quick tune so i could drive the car to him.

yeah i'm actually leaning towards going with a wideband o2 sensor and the Sniper tuning software and tuning it myself. i talked with the guy at that shop about tuning my car, and when i got to talking about going with a supercharger i got the impression that he doesn't tune many supercharged engines. he was talking about trying to keep the a/f ratio as close to 14.7:1 as possible, and i know some people have said that you needa richer mix (closer to 12.0:1) for a supercharged engine, so i'm not sure i would trust this guy enough to put my engine in his hands. and the only other shop anywhere near here that will tune my car is in Amarillo, and that's 2 1/2 hours away so that's not even an option right now.

btw, did you get my pm earlier? i've got everything squared away on my end, you should be getting something in the mail sometime early next week.
