So for the past couple of days when I am driving I notice that my ABS light would come on from anywhere to 2 seconds or until about 30 second. I know It shouldnt be coming on just out of no where. Im not spinning out. Im not driving eratically. Im just driving at 45 mph and it will just come on. Can anyone give an explanation why and what I should do about it. Thanks

 

Yea actually on my GF's 02 V6 Stang this is happening exactly the same way, not entirely sure why either any particular reasons since it was kind of out of nowhere and it seams almost sporatic when it comes on and off.

 

when this happened to me i needed a new abs module, eventually it stopped randomly coming on and stayed on. Cost 600 or something around there, it could be a speed sensor though

 

Holy crap $600, so is this like a necessary thing to be aware of and need to actually do something about it right away or err what?

I got the same thing in mine. It used to come on a lot now its less and more random. I do know the speed is off on my car. it says im going a little faster than what i really am. (no, i dont have gears.....yet). I've never worried about it because Its never hurt the drivability, just that My speedo is about 8mph over. And theres no way I'm paying 600$ for anything that doesnt need fixed. I absolutly cannot afford that right now.

 

same thing happened to mine got a used module off ebay 90$ got it installed by local mechanic for 150$ ford wanted to charge me 700$ to do it.

P.S. just make sure that is what it is.

 

So are we actually running a risk at driving around w/ this on, I'm assuming so since u guys have got the module replaced.

 

I doubt it, if something was actually broke you'd probably know. My friend's 98 does the same thing and his is fine too. plus its doing it randomly. its probably a sensor messing up.

 

could be broken sensor, most obv thing to check, the brake fluid!!!!! if you dont have enough, the abs light will come on from time to time... happened to me and i filled up the fluid and it worked just fineeeee

also could be a short! i had a firend whose alternator was messed up and all different random lights would come including absso get that checked too! eff ford theyre gay!
