starter question
Ok, I have a 2001 Bullitt, and my starter is going bad, so I'm told. Where is the starter located and how much does a starter cost, I'm not too concerned about the brand of the starter. I have to jump start the car if it sits for longer than a day or so. I've had the battery tested, the test showed a good battery, same for the alternator.
Thanks,
Ryan

its located under the car on the passenger side. its literally right next to the bellhousing. if your replacing it yourself then be prepared for one giant PITA. there are 3 bolts holding it up. the bottom one is the easiest. the middle one you will need a foot or bigger extension and a swivel. and the top bolt you may be able to squeeze a small wrench up there. you'll have to feel for the top bolt. if i remember correctly all the bolts are 13 mm.
If you have to jump start your car, it doesnt sound like your starter is going. The starter is a PITA. You have three bolts and the top is easiest to get at by going in w/ a few universals from the front of the K-member. I would check your charging system again and maybe look for some electrical leaks too. That may be your problem.

+1, if it starts OK with a jump then you have a charging problem,or high "dark current" drain that's pulling the battery volatge down--it is unlikely it's a starter problem...What is the battery voltage when it won't start, both before trying to start it and while trying to start it?
