Default Transmission

Okay, so I understand that I am truley pissing you guys off with my questions, but heres another one.

I really want to switch to either a 5 speed, or a 6 speed, im getting very bored with the automatic (BTW car made 552rwhp, good guess guys, yall were right on the money)

anyway, im getting a about $600 back from taxes (not working cause of surgery sucks), and about $2,000 in may from insurance crap. Now im okay going back to my old tune at 440rwhp, I would probably need to after switching transmissions to get used to it.

Would it be possible to use a beefed up version of say a T5 or something? I really don't want to pay for a T56 and the clutch that would go along with it. So would I be able to buy the tranny from a mustang and just hook it up? What are some of the issues that I would face?

I know that the viper spec T-56 is like $3300, how much would just a stock transmision be? would I even be able to get a stock transmission? or would I be forced to go to aftermarket? Would I be able to use a used one? or would I have to use brand new?

isn't it like $1600? I was seeing if I could get something for around $500. I don't know if I could install it myself, so I have to make sure that I have enough to pay for labor if I need to

thanks, do you have any idea what the cost would be? Is this something I would be able to do in my garage? or would I need to pay someone to do it? isn't a TKO just a built up T-5 or something?

I would go TKO w/ that power IMHO. Either way, TKO or T56, it is going to get expensive. That is why I built my T45. The TKO is a more durable tranny vs. the T56 IMO but, the T56 is a six speed which is pretty cool too. It is a toss up IMHO but, as I recall, the TKO is the cheaper of the two ways to go.

What about the viper spec T-56? I thought it was supposed to be rated up to 600lbft of torque, and im definately not making that at the crank, so wouldn't I be safe? Would I be able to buy it from like ebay or something to save some money?

Oh, and I use the car more as a road course car, not a straight line car, so is the TKO 500 good for that kind of thing?

So I'm guessing that none of you have information on transmisions?

Road coarse...with high speed? If thats the case the 6spd would obviously be your best bet. I know one of the TKOs is offered with the 5th gear shorter than normal so its not an overdrive gear. They even call it the road race version.
