Default where to buy a performance crate for a 98gt

Hi,
I am new to the forum, and have recently purchased my dream toy, (yellow 98gt convertible) and with the cervini's body kit on the way, and pipes and lowering springs in, I want to put a performance motor in, but don't really know which company to buy from, and well, I feel a little stupid, because I don't know how big I can go and have it still fit. I would like something about 400hp, and around $6000. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also i would need kind of a specific model or something. thanks
sal

beat me to itdpstang98gt. just get a hellion turbo it and call it a day. makes more than 400rwhp and if you ever get forged internals can get that kit up to who know how much, probably more than you can use. and you will be one of the few that actually has a turbo mustang. i dont recommend going much higher than 400rwhp as your motor may not handle it. but you can get that 400 hp goal with that. you can check out the kit here: http://hellionpowersystems.com/data.mod.gt.html.

ps congrats on getting your dream stang.

i want to start from scratch, i bought it dirt cheap, $4500, with 88k on the motor, but the motor is in rough shape, and i don't feel like piecing it together and have other stuff fall apart, so I would like to start new, it is going to be a summer car. that way i will have a body with 88k, and a brand new motor. I have the money to trick it out, so I want to do everything at once. I have another car, so I would rather put the money into a new motor(while I have the cash) instead of putting 5g's into a motor that looks like it was beat on. Make sense? I thought it did. I just don't want to have to put 2500$ into it 8 mionths from now.

yes and while your rebuilding your motor make sure u put some strong internals in it while ur at it so u can put the boost up when ur trans, and rear can handle it after been worked on also and u should be able to make some decent power and be pretty safe i would think

Not a problem salvatore119. i thought this would be a worthwhile thing for you to look into. and you are right...with those miles, that motor would go at any time now. what im about to suggest may be pricey, but it would be the best thing for you to do to make safe power and have the potential for more. get a built shortblock and some ported PI heads and some custom ground turbo/blower cams, then do the turbo/blower/nitrous,do your clutch and maybe rebuild your transmission. that will keep you from having to do anything down the roadso you can just go out and ripand tear initand not have to worry about 'is this gonna hold up or is this going to break'. plus your rear axels may need some attention.get some heavier duty axels to handle the power.do the motor, turbo, clutch and tranny rebuild, and probably some gears (3.73's or 3.90's) and axels, and you will be able to tear it up out there and not have to worry about the engine blowing or tranny going out. sorry for the length but i just thought that id throw out there a few(or a lot) of suggestions for you to get a great car.

That may seem like the same kit and cheaper, but you get what you pay for and is this guy backing his kit like hellion or hp does??? i highly doubt it. not saying thathe doesnt for sure, because he very well may, but hellion offers this on all kits:
[blockquote]
"The Hellion systems come standard with a 1 year warranty for parts and workmanship, as well as a lifetime warranty on all piping. The turbocharger comes with a "no fault, no hassle" unconditional 1 year warranty from Turbonetics."(hellions website)

and i dont know about you, but when i have something that complicated under my hood, i want some hardcore backing that will be there and not get those excuses that many other forum members get when a shortblock goes a bust or their local shop did their engine and the first time out the track sends a piston out the head or whatever. hellion is reknown for their quality and craftmanship and the backing of their product.[/blockquote]
