Default Instrument Oddity

When I first start 'er up, all the instruments peg to the max, then drop back to the 'off' position, then after a few seconds they all turn on and everything's fine. Doesn't happen all the time, though, and no set rountine as to when this happens. Has anyone experienced this?

Mine did that until I replaced my battery, and now no problem. I thought of it as an early sign of battery going.

My GT did this and then my battery went bad. Replaced that and it hasn't done it again.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check the batteryconnections, etc. and how old it is. Haven't had the car long. For all I know, it could be original battery (car's a 2003) but doubtful. I was thinkin' the same thing-an early sign of battery going.
