if im racing should i shift when it redlinesor???

usually if im on the road or doin a quarter mile i shift at like 5500...

 

well redline is 5750 rpms (stock engine). Shifting at 5500 is ideal our power falls off fast from 5000 rpms online on a stock GT unless you are a cobra or have different engine block with cams for higher rpm ability.

 

so 5500 is like perfect lol

 

I was always told 5100-5200 was the sweet spot

 

+1 WITH 5100-5200 RPMS

 

i just tryed 3-4 at 5000 it feels like an ANIMAL! haha

 

i shift at around 6 to 6200 as i believe when the rpm drops it stays in the power band longer. i went from an average 14.2-3 to a consistent 13.9 when i changed from shifting at 5200.

 

ding...ding...ding.we have a winnner! Track times don't lie. I've tried it all and 5900- 6000 produces the vest times for a stock heads/cams car[8D]

 

so basically inbetween 5500 and 6000 and my redlines at 5800 rite

 

yea 5100-5400 but if it feels like the power band is leaving shift b4 that lol
