Default Differential cover

Greetings
On my '02 GT the differential cover has started to leak. As far as I can
tell it has never been off the car and no I don't use it to jack up the car.
I need to pull it off, clean it and reinstall. Is there a gasket or do I use
RTV? What fluid goes back in and do I need to use a limited slip additive?

Thanks very much

Richard

There is a gasket for it, but you can use an RTV gasket and it will be fine, and be easier to work with. Gear oil goes in there, your manual should say what you use, but I think it is 75W-90 (at least that is what I used). As for the additivie, it depends on what gear oil you use. If you go to an auto store, they have the Royal Purple brand gear oil and it has the additive already in it, and you do not need to add any more.

I could be the pinion seal leaking I suppose. I saw two small oil spots in my
garage and looked under the car and the diff cover had a drop on it ready to fall.
I should have looked in my owners manual as it says to use 75w-140 synthetic
with 4oz. of friction modifier.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I ended up using RTV after having bad success w/ the gasket.(I suck as a mechanic so it was me, not the gasket). Then I put in 75w90 Royal Purple w/ no additive. It was suppose to have the additive in it already.
