Default intake manifold

well my thermostat housing on my 98 gt is leaking again. last time i got it sealed with some rtv but it finally gave way. im looking at my options .
how much is really in a pi swap cash wise?
are there any aftermarket ones that work well with near stock motors?
other suggestions on fixing stock one?

you can find PI intakes on ebay for ~$150, I think you may need an adapter for the swap though.

hahahah whats up man? about time you joined the board..... if you decide to do the swap, is your dad gonna chew your ***? i still say **** it go get that 3v shelby from coughlin

oh and if you want, i can come over and we can take the intake manifold off and try to patch it again.... when i took mine off i found the crack was bigger than i though, we could just repatch it and make it work....you just gotta get a day off work

I say look around for a better intake instead of the stock plastic intake manifold

what would you consider better? Most aftermarket intakes lose power through the power band and only make it up in the high RPMs. I would pay anything what they ask for aftermarket intakes to have ANY loss.

Yeah, the only intakes that are really any good are the P-51, Logan, and Reichard racing. All three require a new hood, and are only good on built motors. Plus, they're about $1,500.

So I guess cams aren't worth it either...LOL You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want power up top, you are gonna sacrifice a little down low. Thats just the way it is. Granted there isn't a whole lot to be gained by an intake manifold swap unless you are FI and have ported heads, but there isn't much to be had by most of the mods people throw at these motors. Every little bit of power you can squeak out of these 2vs is a considerable amount IMO.

I think its funny how people are quick to spend hundreds on UDPs, TB/Plenum combos, CAIs, "High Flow" cats (LOL), etc... but as soon as the intake manifold is mentioned it gets shot down with the quickness.

If you don't think a manifold swap is worth it, look at side by side dyno of a GT and a Bullitt @ the same psi and then get back to me.
