Installing gears....input please.
I have 3.73's and am putting them in soon. I have 48k miles on my 03 gt and the guy said I would not NEED new bearings. I know everyone will probabaly recommend new bearings but besides that he is putting this stuff in....maybe bearings and seals, posi cluteches kit and modifier and syn. fluid. Sound good? We I ecounter any problems?
When I installed my gears, I went ahead and replaced all my bearings while I was in there. Once I got them out, they looked fine. I was at about 48k miles when I installed my gears as well. I'm sure the bearings are fine, but I already got the kit, so figured I would just do it while I was in there. As for the posi clutches, I didn't touch anything on the carrier, and I'm still fine.
It's a 5 speed. I love the 4.30's, really woke the car up. I have no F/I plans, and I hate "roll racing" so they are a perfect gear for me. At around 70 mph in 5th gear, I turn right under 2,500 rpm.
