Default help me diagnose this engine problem!

What's up fellas? I just bought an '02 GT about a month ago and I've noticed a few problems over the past couple weeks. For one the clutch makes like a creaking (is that even a word?) sound. I bought some white grease from the store and am planning on spraying that all up in the clutch housing sometime today, so hopefully that will fix that problem.

But what I'm mainly concerned about is if I let the car idle for a few minutes the engine will start to sputter erratically. When I first turn the car on the RPMs will hover right around 1k and then eventually drop to about 500 after the engine is warmed up. It will then begin acting up a few minutes later. The whole car actually shakes. It feels as if the engine is in too high a gear and is about to cut off. I have no clue what could be causing this. I've searched through the forums already and found nothing. If anyone could give me some suggestions I'd appreciate it!

Also there is a soft rattling noise coming from the engine whenever I give it gas. I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with the engine, just a loose part somewhere in there. The problem is I don't know how the hell I'm supposed to figure out what it is or where it's coming from.

I would check all of your vaccum lines for any air leaks, look at your air intake to make sure your lines are hooked up. Plus check your throttle body to make sure its clean, cheap gas builds up carbon really bad.

That clutch sound could be throw out bearings. Does it happen when you press down on the clutch?

$50 at pep boys. Same **** happened to me, freaked me out, went out bought it, put it in and bam never sounded better. One screw is hard to get to but if you got a long neck lug extension you can get it.

Sorry I'm so late with the response, but yeah it only makes a noise when I'm shifting gears. If the car's parked and I press down on the clutch it sounds fine. I thought if the throw out bearing was bad the car would make noise constantly though? (rather than only when the clutch is pressed)

And I think I fixed the idling problem. There was a slit in one of the vacuum tubings that connect to the engine. The car runs great now! [sm=smiley20.gif]
