Default Question about Driveshaft

Just wondering how much time it would take to swap in a ford racing aluminum driveshaft for my 2002 GT stock one? And how difficult is it to do? Thanks

I've never actually done one myself, so I couldn't tell you how long it would take, but I would definitely recommend getting it done though.. The lighter weight aluminum D/S will reduce the rotational mass in the drivetrain and thereby reduce some of the parasitic HP loss to the wheels.. At least from my experience anyway. I took mine to a shop to have mine installed when I swapped tranny's.. just my .02

With half a brain, it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes, with the time it takes to jack up the car included.

Just un bolt it from the rear diff, slide it forward toward the trans so you can maneuver it past the diff, and pull it out of the trans. Repeat backwards to install the new one.

A little yah.. seemed to have just a little more pull on the top end than it did before the swap.. And I may just be talking out of the wrong orifice here, but there didn't seem to be as much lag time when I would really punch it.. Plus, the stock D/S in the Machs wasn't the right size or spline-rating for the TKO-600 that I bought..

Basically put, and this is just the way I understand it, so if I'm wrong somebody correct me, but less rotational mass= less parasitic drag on the engine= quicker power transfer from the engine to the wheels. And I forgot too, the stocker D/S in the mach's wasn't rated to carry RWHP I'm putting down, so the aluminum D/S is stronger as well as lighter..

Dude, it shouldn't take you no longer than 30 minutes. 10 minutes is pushing it. I can't say i notice a difference, but it's lighter than the stock one so that's got to help somewhere.

Here's a pointer since you've never done it before. Once it's on jacks put the car in neutral and spin the d/s around till you can get to 2 bolts easy enough, put it in gear and loosen them, then repeat for the other 2.
