Default Please Please help, Engine.

PLEASE read this article I wrote I REALLY need opinions, please! []

I bought a 2000 Ford Mustang GT with 45,000 Miles on it back in August of 2007. I bought the car from a private seller, who started the car before I bought it, and it sounded like the car was starving for gas, it would idle high, then low. I bought the car with this known problem, saying it needed a fuel filter was all. It turned out to need a fuel PUMP. I bought the fuel pump and had it installed. The car was taken to a shop, and it needed new brake pads, rotors, tie rods (inner and outer), and struts. 1,000 dollars later my car was immaculate, running great. I am pretty sure this car was beat on. And trust me, since I've bought this car I turned into a master mechanic im serious, lol.. so many problems..

On to the point (just wanted to give background to this car that could maybe help pinpoint the source of this problem).. My car started making a weird rattling sound upon driving (NOT when in neutral, ever).. Sometimes the car would make the noise, sometimes not, sometimes extremely loud and annoying but other times quiet, it was weird. Now let me get this straight.. I have HEARD "ticking" engines, my engine was NOT ticking. it was clicking and I can't really describe it. The noise was most apparent when moving INTO a gear, like pulling your foot off the clutch and pressing into the gas to get into the next gear it had a steady rhythm like a drumroll (kind of like rattling your tongue, dont laugh because I can't describe it any other way)

In the middle of October, I was coming back from a friends house, mind you I NEVER beat on this car (but I believe the man before me did) and I was pulling out from a stopsign onto a main road, went into second gear, pulled out the clutch and then all of a sudden the car's clicking noise got extremely loud and an extremely (EXACTLY like nails on a chalkboard) sound came from my motor.. and the car stalled and shut off. I drifted off the road out of traffic's way and got out to look at the motor. No smoke, nothing. It looked just like the engine looked any other day that It was still running. I called up a friend of mine and he was nearby so he stopped to check it out. He started the motor, it started just fine loud as it normally starts and he looked at me like I was an idiot. Then it made the same screeching sound AGAIN and shut off. He tried one more time and it locked up on him. The car was towed to a nearby shop that sucks and takes forever to do anything. They (a week later) called me at work and said that im not gonna like the new and that they cranked the motor by hand and they think I popped a wrist pin. I didn't have any money at the time to be spending on serious repairs so I got my car back and she went in the garage. A month after everything happened, I went in the garage to start my car, and it started right up no problem, strong as ever. 2 seconds into the idle, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM steadily coming from the motor, nothing smoking, nothing stalled. I turned off the car as my heart sunk.. It hasn't been started since, and won't start because the computer locks it from even getting close to starting.

PLEASE, PLEASE ALL FEEDBACK, ANY DIRECTION WHATSOEVER IS UNBELIEVABLY APPRECIATED

Bump - Someone suggested a flywheel problem, due to the loud thud it has now. Also, ticking as the clutch is released could indicate a flywheel.

Honestly it sounds like your only option is to pull the engine and tear it down to find the broken parts.
If I had to guess I would say A broken Timing chain adjuster. Only because you said it didn't do it all the time at first. But just pull it and look at everything. You don't want to keep guessing on the problem that gets expensive

Is thered an easy way to see about the timing chain? Also, whats the best way to see inside the cylinders? Pop off the spark plugs?
