When installing the shifter is it nessesary to replace gear oil or can I just leave it?

leave it just put the new shifter on with a gasket

Need to use the correct terms....

If you put gear oil in, your transmission would not be very happy.

It's transmission fluid, and no there is no need to replace the fluid when changing your shifter.

I just installed my MGW enjoy it, it is a lot more fun driving around and banging gears now.

It's not necessary but it is a good time to change the fluid because it's easier to fill from the top.

Yeah i just installed my MGW last tuesday for my 01 GT Its so nice..... Good choice man... I would change the tranny fluid ifits never been changed & also depending on the miles that the car has.

i installed new transmission fluid when i installed my mgw, only took an extra few minutes to drain/fill since the shifter was already off.

I think i'm going to order and install mine soon. Quick question b4I use search becauseI have to go to class: is there a write up you guys could link me to step by step with pictures?I did a jlt intake not to long ago which was fairly easy, but that's the extent of my bolton knowledge. Thanks.
