Default Overheating Question

Hey so my dad has a 99 GT. I was driving it today while mines being worked on and it starts overheating for some reason. The fan was working and their was enough coolant. I decide to replace the thermostat so i put that in and i noticed that there was never even one in there in the 1st place. Will that hurt anything? So i fill it back up with coolant and start driving it home and it overheats again so i fill it with water. I finally get back home and i start to drain the radiator and i notice that the water isnt warm at all even though it is boiling over out of the coolant bottle. Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks

Sorry. Forgot to mention it has a mishimoto aluminum radiator i put in about 6 weeks ago

It sounds like you aren't getting any water flow... perhaps its the water pump. If the fluid in the radiator is cold and the fluid in the motor is hot, you have a flow problem.

Water pump took the easy way out and killed itself.

not having a thermostat wont hurt anything.just takes longer to get heat into the car in the winter.

Well today i started it and let it run for a while cooloant started pouring out from underneath the overflow tank cap. And whats the different between a stock water pump and a performance water pump. Is it worth getting performance?

Sounds like an air bubble issue. A lot of times these cars get air pockets while the cooling system is opened (for whatever reason)

Do you know anyone with one of those air powered coolant filler? I have one at work and it does WONDERS.. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....mp;dir=catalog

But make sure the coolant isnt airlockd before you go putting a water pump on it. And the difference in pumps is the amount of coolant it will flow.. I'd replace it with an OEM style, unless you ha ve a huge radiator and some cooling issues with a modified motor..

nope i dont know anybody who has them. I am going to go get the system flushed out on thursday and see if that helps. If not i guess i will put a new water pump in. Are they easy to replace or is it gonna give me a hard time?
