He's claiming 300 horse and said he can run a low 13. There is so much Mustang bashing at my school it's anoying.
LOL.. he's claiming 300 horse and he only runs low 13's?? hehe.. what a phucking tard.. Those cars weigh between 400-600lbs less on averagethan the average stang, and that's without weight reduction if he's done any, and if he really DID have 300 to the wheels he'd be running mid to high 12's in that car unless he completely has his head up his a$$.. Just be glad is not the R32, those friggin things can be monsters when modded right.. I take it you have a'00 GT right? What else do you have done to it? Because even if this kid has 300 to the crank and all you've got is a throttle body in 00' GT, and he even passably knows how to drive I think he's got you.. Are you PI or NPI?

And Nemo, WRX's SUCK A$$ from a roll.. that AWD eats up so much high end torque they fall flat on their face anywhere past 5,000 RPM's at speed, so the fact that you "toasted" one, really isn't all that impressive, even though I"m sure it was fun.. Besides, the stock turbo's in the STI's suck, if that's what it was.. HOWEVER,that AWD will rape you from adig unless you're pretty modded and can launch well.. You'd reel him in eventually, but he'd get the holeshot everytime unless he completely sucks at launching his car..
you are saying WRX's suck a$$? I hope you aren't talking about an STI...b/c I believe one of those may give you quite the run for your money.
Wellll, number one, I never said the OP would loose, and maybe I'm just blind but I didn't see any mod list for the OP, all I know is that he's got a ported throttle body on his '00 GT. If he has cam's and some other things, then yeah I think he'll win. but a 1.8GT with 300HP, even at the crank, isn't going to be THAT slow, unless the tard driving it is completely without driver mod..

Ya might want to go over your reading comprehnsion there tws1098, I never said WRX's suck period, I said they suck FROM A ROLL.. I actually like the cars, but that AWD drive-train eats up a LOT of high end power for them.. Hence I said WRX, and not STI..And yeah, I HAVE seen STI's that could smoke me before, but they weren't anywhere close to stock either.. All Nemo said was WRX, he didn't state STI. Also for the record, the stock turbo's in the STI's DO suck.. If you want any kind of real top end power out of them, go big like a GT35 series.. From a dig, both the wrx's AND the STI's go like stink, but if you've ever seen a stock STI at the strip, it falls on it's face by the 880ft mark.. THAT'S what I meant.. They're good from a dig, but they suck from a roll because they're underpowered up top..
Haha it's cool dude. Just read my sig it has all my mods so far before a dyno tune and my 75mm TB is on it's way... and yes it is PI. All 99-04 Mustang GTs arePI motors.

idk if he has any weight reduction done or anything I'll ask him but he prolly won't tell me anymore than he already told me.

Meehh.. no harm done.. sorry, just having a really pissy week.. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

OP, I pretty much thought they were PI, just wasn't sure..I always spent more time driving than I ever did under the hood, at least as far as ford engine's went anyway. I do know that if he really does have 300 HP to the wheels in that 1.8 he's on borrowed time where blowing the motor's concerned.. If he really wanted to go fast he should've done an R32 swap instead of going FI on that little 1.8, because that's the only way he'd squeeze that kind of power out of it..

+1 on that, and what some others were saying if he's got 300hp which i am really doubting...shouldnt he be a little quicker than the time he claimed I mean cmon we can get our heavier cars to low 13 w/o extensive mods or FI.

Weeeellllll, that's kind of what I was thinking, but the 1.8 GTI's aren't all THAT light I don't believe.. they're right around 3k pounds, maybe a little under, so unless the guy has done some serious weight reduction that's maybe what, 500lbs difference max? Plus he added weight by going F/I.. Still, if he really DID have 300 FWHP in that thing, I would guess with a half decent driver he'd be mid to high 12's, maybe a little lower, and that's with somebody that knows what they're doing behind the wheel.. The thing with those little 1.8's is that heat soak is a B1TCH.. that much boost/power in those blocks x a few passes at speed = BOOM, most of the time that is.. You have to really throw some cash into the engine to keep that from happening..

Is this a Mk4? If so, it's only barely lighter than a new edge.

My friend has one. Still running the stock turbo, but, upgraded his N75 valve, CAI, turbo inlet pipe, and a tune. He spikes 20 psi, and averages 16-17.

Without the spray, my car is basically stock. I've got the stock wheels back on, cobra brake upgrade all around, a CAI (lol waste), O/R midpipe and a catback. With no spray, it really comes down to how much gas we have. If I have a full tank and a passenger, and he is low, he'll edge me out. If he's got a full tank and I am low/no passenger, I edge him out. The difference is really small. With the nitrous, it would be no contest.

The turbo swapped one? He'll definitely be pushing some more power, but you won't get "raped." He'll edge you out a little bit, if anything at all. Want the insurance you'll beat him no matter what? Throw some spray on there, it's dirt cheap and your bottom end is already forged. Just sit on a 150 shot and call it good.

You would rape him!!!!!!!!! I just raced a WRX with exhaust and turbo. I gave this dude a good head start on the on ramp on the free way. When he came out of the turn he started to gun it cuz I saw the smoke from the exhaust. I told my wife to hold were bout to have some fun lol. I buried the gas and shifted hard and I blew him away at least 10 car lengths. He tried catching up I just buried it again lol!!!!!!!!!!![sm=gears.gif]
I'm calling total BS on this one. If the WRX had an upgraded turbo and exhaust you would get smoked. if that happened it must have been a stock auto. my friend has a stage 2 WRX( uppipe, downpipe, exhaust and tune, stock turbo, running 17 psi). he was almost even with my '01 Cobra with intake, exhaust and tune. from a roll i only put a few cars on him.

Im not sure if he had a upgraded turbo, but I know he wanted to race. Cuz he kept reving up his car at the light before the on ramp. But your stage 2 with a full exhaust and 17 psi thats a whole other ball park. I know his cat back was not stock cuz his muffler was HUGE.

Thanks..Somehow getting shot at three days in a row and not having a hot shower in four days because the friggin generators for the housing trailers got hit with mortar fire AGAIN, can kinda give you a pissy week.. lol [>:]

But on topic, I've run into more than a couple STI's that have handed me my *** at the strip and on the street before.. One guy had a full exhaust, (i.e. headers, mids, etc.. ) suspension work and I BELIEVE he said a GT35 series turbo running out at 20+ psi on a race tune, and he ran several sub-10.55 runs on 1.7 60's.. Wish I would've thought to ask him what else he had done at the time..
