SOme major changes this week!
So before winter started I blew out my third gear in the cobra, do not know how just did(happened while i was shifting normally into third). IT kinda sucked because I never missed a gear or powershifted in the car, but O well thats how it is when you buy a used car. So it finally gets nice out I drove it for a little bit, then last friday brought into work tore out the trans and teared apart the trans.
Made a parts list for what I need, one of the techs at ford helped me through it. and since I work there I get a discount on parts. I pay 10% over cost. All I really needed was a Blocker ring for third and 5th gear shift fork, dont know how that broke? So I figured since I have the trans out might as well replace all the Blocker rings, and the output shaft bearings, counter shaft bearings. I go to order the parts, you have to order everything in kits and the kits include synchros. So I decide to just do it, I get a grand total of 762$!!!I figure its not worth dumping that much into a stock trans
After looking around and trying to make a decision by today, I decided to go with a TKO 500. Ordered it from D & D performance, seem like great guys and have nothing but good things. Trans costed me 2311$They gave me free shipping and that includes the bell housing. I did want to do other mods, but in the long run since I plan on eventually supercharging I think this should be worth it. Trans should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. I just received my centerforce Dual Friction clutch today also. Ill keep you guys updated.
