3650 tranny, trying to install my short throw but i cant get the stock shifter out. i removed the rubber grommets, the 4 bolts holding the shifter on, but i cant get the shifter out. is there something else i need to do or do i just have to yank on this **** until it breaks free?

 

Try bolting the handle back on to get some extra leverage. Some come off easy and some take a little work.

 

get husky, maybe chug a protein shake before? it took some people on here like 20min

 

Try moving it left to right, not front to back, and you will have to put some a** into it, but it will come out, I did mine in about 20 minutes as Kmelfi11 said. Don't bust your knuckles up like I did.

 

I got under the car and used a small punch and hammer and lightly tapped on the edge of the shifter until it broke the seal, then I pulled it the rest of the way off.

 

welcome to the club buddy.lol its a pain. it took me like 3 hours to get that damn thing off. but it was well worth it after The MGW was in

 

try prying around the edge of the sifter with a flat head screw driver to try to break the seal a little

 

I would definitely try a flat head or apping the edge from underneath if you can. If shouldn't be that hard, you just have to break the seal.

 

Use a medium size prybar. Will take some muscle to pull it off.

 

i got it thanks. i'm not weak but it did NOT want to come off. wouldnt have taken me but half an hour to do it but i didnt wanna break something. i've put 2 in before (older npi gt's) and neither were that stuck on.
