HELP, shop messed up!
so I am in the middle of putting my motor back in my car and when I went to put my UD Pulleys on my mechanic friend told me not to because it is going to mess with how the motor was balanced. the shop had the pulleys the whole time with the motor but didn't balance it with the UD pulley and used my stock pulley! now I have spent the money on pulley and can't use them! what a waste!
What should I do!
What should I do!
i think that just might be some people beliefes because i have a friend that says the same thing and blames that for blowing up his engine... the stock motor isnt balanced for new pullies but everyone does it and runs fine, mine runs great with my new pullies.
if it was balanced to the stock pulley it should be balanced to a replacement ud. you dont think that steeda or slp or blue moto would sell us pulleys that were balanced different then our stock pulley do you? why thatd ****some ****up.
There are some mechanics who will tell you that anything aftermarket will f**k up your car somehow.
I have come across a few of these guys in my travels..............they know everything and if you question them on something they are saying they will get all stinky and ask you if you are a mechanic just to try and prove their point.
If your motor is on it's way out...with pullies or not it will expire. I have not seen a single case where it could be absolutley proved that ud pullies blew up a motor.
Bring your pullies somewhere else and get someone with a clue to install them or install them yourself.........it's not that hard to do.
Good Luck

but thats the thing you guys aren't getting. my car isn't anywhere close to stock! its been ported, bored, forged, new pistons, heads, intake, everything is new and when they build racing motors they go through and balance the crank pulley, crank, and flywheel to maximize the power output. he did this with the stock crank pulley and not my after market pulley and had to drill out a little bit of it to counter balance the crank!
this motor was done by a company that builds racing motors all day, he never said the pulleys will ruin the motor for sure, just that it will mess up the balancing! I do all my own work when it come to my car but there are just a few things I don't trust doing like boring a motor or rebuilding it from the crank at that. other then that I do all my own work, I just spent about $4k having this racing motor built and he didn't balance it right!
