i think headers are overrated in general...i mean i cant think of one single bolt on that adds a significant amount of power...our cars just dont respond well to mods. stock manifolds suck, shorties are a little better but still suck and long tubes are better then the shorties but still wont gain u that much hp. but if you are trying to get every bit of power out of ur bolt on gt then i wuld go with the long tubes. i have shorties and they didnt do a damn thing for me

Shortys are not worthless! And they're not as hard to install as LT's. LT's are way overrated.
fine even if your post is true, which you can't argue that LT get more power, they are like CIA, they "do nothing" but everyone has one... eventually he/she will get LTs

Not true at all. I have seen gains of up to 10 rwhp with shorty headers on N/A vehicles and I've seen many people get about the same or less with LT's (nanaki got 6 or 7 to the wheels on his blown modded 4.6). And with LT's there are a lot more downsides, such as: cost of LT's (compared to shortys), install is A LOT more involved, you need a new mid pipe, you have to worry about bottoming out and scraping your headers, anytime you have to drop your trans and/or do a rear main seal, clutch, throw out bearing you have to take off at least the passenger side header, and you'll lose low end torque.

It is NO more difficult to swap shorties than lts. it is exactly the same process, your just swapping your midpipe too. and i would LOVE to see a dyno of just shorties giving you 10rwhp..

I saw 8 rwhp on my last NPI and I didn't have full bolt on's, and I've seen a dyno for 10 rwhp gains. And how can you say the install is the same for LT's and shortys? You must have never put them on before.

from looking at your sig it doesn't look like you have put a set on either... but before we start cutting into each other, i will go back to the original question... it's one of the first things that i read here, but i can't find it now... look its your car so make it your car... if i say go with long tubes and you don't want to then don't... we try to give our own advice and opinions, and thats all they are advice and opinions, so if you disagree then do what you want

This is my 4th Stang. I've put on LT's and shorty's. My current Stang had shortys, but one of them were damaged during head removal so I had to go back to my stock manifolds.
