before i install the cam i was asking around about tunning it, so as long as i have the diablo with me, some said that i can tune the car using the predator in the dyno, is that true?

 

I recently called a local shop to see how much it would cost to dyno and tune my car and that I had my predator. The guy quoted me $299. He then said if I had N/X it would be $100 more to tune it.It's def. good that you have your own tuner.

they can write custom tunes for your car. Make sure you let them know you have a diablosport tuner before you go considering some tuners will only use sct and vice versa.

As long as the shop you plan on having your car dyno tuned at has Diablo software, then your fine. If they only custom tune using SCT then your kinda screwed and need to either change what programmer you use or find a shop that uses Diablo.

They don't actually use the handheld programmer to make a custom tune. They will write a custom tune using diablo software on a computer based on the modifications to your car, and then load that custom tune to your predator.

You can probably get the car pretty close with just the programmer, a dyno, and a wideband, but the tune won't be perfect. And it won't be a custom tune, it will just be the stock Predator tune that has been adjusted.

 

so its better to get dyno tune with their custom tune? can they adjust the gears? if they can i will sell the predator and get a dyno tune without using the diablo

You are still gonna need the Diablo, or maybe an SCT depending on what software they use. They will load the custom tune to your handheld tuner and then flash it to your ECM from the handheld. The software itself doesn't allow direct interface between the cars computer and their PC. Thats why you need a handheld. The only other way is to have tham burn you a chip, but I would much rather have a tuner since it will give you the capability of making small changes, data log, read/clear OBDII codes by yourself.

They can make adjustments for gears and whatever else you have installed, don't worry about that.

Just do this. Call the dyno shop you are thinking about using and ask them if they use Diablo or SCT for their custom tuning. If they say Diablo, then all you need to do is take your car there with you Predator and let them do the rest. If they say SCT, then you have two choices, find another shop that uses Diablo, or sell the Diablo and buy an SCT.
