Default 2008 Roush 428R vs 2002 GT

So i just found out my friend got a Roush mustang, what i didnt know was that it was the limited edition Roush 428R. The car is rated at 435 hp and 400 torque, and i have a 2002 GT with boltons. Now i know what my 1/4 time should be what about my friends? We set out tonight to try and find out, ofcourse he smoked me but it was closer than i thought. Anyone know what his car should be running, or any idea? here is the vid, its a 1/4 mile to the tree across the street but its too dark to see when we cross or when we start, but i kinda timed his at 13.3 and mine at 14.3 that seems about right for me since i had a bunch of junk in the trunk but should his time be better or what? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeL6G4Ey68UOH! and what can i do to keep up with him better? any ideas will be welcome.

A little off topic, but I remember a big thread in Street/Strip about the new 428R's and the new Saleens. I would say a 13.3 is a good deal slow for a new 428R so your friend might need a little driver mod. lol Regardless it's still a kick-*** car. As far as what you could do to keep up, it depends on what you've already got and how much money you have to spend on mods. I'd say the cheapest way would probably be to go on the bottle, but even then in order to safely go over about a 100 shot or so it'd be best to get the forged internals first. And I'm no expert on the juice, but I'm thinkin a wet shot would be safest there. Still, I'd get opinions from some of the other guys on here that actually have the juice as I went S/C myself. lol BUT to get back to the original question, I'd be ready to probably spend between 4 to 6k on mods at least in order to make a good showing of it with a well driven 428R. Hope that helps brudda. Good luck!

I'd say they're good for mid 12's?

It's a Roush 427R.... Mid 12's. Again, the new edge mustangs need to be put on a diet.

Yea a diet does sound good for my car, besides taking out my golf clubs and mach1000 subs what else is commonly removed??? i cant take out my back seats but they dont really weigh much. And my friend wants to know if he will need a tune or anything else if he gets a smaller superchager pulley, if he does im will never keep up with him lol.

right now... you'll need more than weight reduction... you'll need full slicks, 90/10 shocks with 4cyls upfront and -1 coil stock springs in the back.... you'll also need some more power... LT's 75mm TB, tune and A/C delete.... anything to free up some ponies.

ya, the guy that owns the Roush 428R (and it is a 428R, not a 427R) isn't very good at shifting. And he doesn't know **** about cars. You could point at the air conditioner condenser and tell him it's the alternator and he'd believe you. I was the guy who shot the video too btw.

428's are no different than the 427's

they just have the chrome package and maybe a few other appearance mods. i talked to a couple guys with them last month.

easiest way to run w/ that Roush is to get on the bottle. A blower would event things up nicely too. You have the weight advantage over the S197 IMHO but, they are quick cars.
