"Mechanically, the car featured a thoroughly reworked version of the 2.0 liter Zetec engine available in other Focus models. Developed by Cosworth this engine featured many advanced technologies. Included were a special aluminum cylinder head with enlarged intake ports, heavy duty pistons and connecting rods, piston oil squirters, variable camshaft timing, dual stage intake manifold, and a 4-2-1 tubular exhaust header. These additions coupled with an increased 10.2:1 compression ratio bumped horsepower from 130 to 170"

The tranny is the same one as in the Mini Cooper S

My next car will be an SVT focus, just because it still has some what of a sporty feel, still a domestic (Although many will disagree) and gets good Gas Milage!

i have an 03 and they're not that great. It hadles impressively but that's about it. I think they can hadle something like 300-350rwhp before blowing up. It's not a bad car, it's fun to drive around and gets decent gas mileage. Not the best platform for a straight line.

I'm not much into performance on it since it's my daily driver, but I've seen blown svt foci in the low 13s. I'm guessing a bolt on focus would see mid low 14s (don't quote me on that). It's perfect for a DD. I get 30 mpg on the highway, i guess that's good compared to stangs.
