Default Going without cats

Ok so my midpipe is still stock and there are no inspections in my state and a shop will cut out my cats and put pipe in its place really cheap. I was wondering if i can wait till i get a tuner in a few months to turn off the rear O2 sensors and just drive with the engine light on for a while? Will I get bad gas mileage from messed up air/fuel ratio? Or poor performance? Or just have a light on in my instrument panel? Anybody have it like this for a while?

I drove around with my CEL on for about a year... The gas mileage did get a little worse, but not a HUGE difference.

why exactly would you want to get rid of the cats ?

I don't mind to be an a** here, but they do help out a lot to reduce your car emissions.... because honestly, our cars consume a lot already and (IMO), we could at least try to keep the cats on and to reduce pollution...

Is it really worth the difference?

It changes the sound and flow, which is what I'm going for. I understand your position but I'll end up without the cats anyways.

I agree but I bought my O/r x pipe because it cost half as much as the catted and in CA you cant have any aftermarket cats so either way you fail emmisions. Also living in the most liberal state has shown me that they are full of crap they change their mind every five seconds. The cat converters dont stop the c02 they stop hydrocarbons which make smog c02 is what they blame for global warming.I amgoing to begetting high flow cats eventually the car is too loud.

you don't need a tuner if you dont have to have it inspected. your engine light will come on but only because it the O2 signal won't be right which causes catalytic inefficiency, which means no cats. gas mileage should increase a little but i doubt you will notice, the only reason your mileage will go down is from you keeping your foot on the pedal because it will sound effin sweet. if the CEL annoys you then spend the 300+ on a tuner or have the code cleared, but chances are it will come back. i put on the MIL eliminators on but my CEL still came on, i cleared it and then it came back. it eventually turned off and has stayed off.

Without replacing the entire midpipe your wasting your time, the stock cats are not costing you much power.

I put MAC OR H pipes on mine and for sure I felt a lose in low end torque. Seems I gained in high end power, car doesn't seem to struggle anymore when getting near the top of the revs. Car sounds great and all, but you'll probably still lose gas from redlining it everywhere.
I put Steeda MILs on and hadn't had any problems with them.

Its all in your head. Off road (or on road) midpipes will not make you loose TQ anywhere in the band.
