I might be talking out my butt here, but I thought I saw an article about Ford playing around with a 5.7 in the Cobra GTR's in the early to mid 1990s...but they never made them (or made very few of them).

okay so im riding around downtown with my windows down and some guy that is walking down the sidewalk asks if it was a 5.7 (and i knew he didn't know mustangs...) and i said no its a 4.6 and then hesays "straight?
lol.... what i think he meant was... Ok, Tight, Alright... as in O thats straight/Alright..... But i could be wrong

What you have heard of the Mustang GT R? Its that bad *** one with the rotary engine and pistons and turbos. They are very limited and hard to find.

Did they use the 5.7 or 5.8 in the cobra r?

when you said "4.6", he may have misunderstood you as saying "6", as in a 6 cylinder, and he wanted to know if it was a straight (inline) 6, rather than a v-6. i know when i order parts over the phone and say 4.6, they always say "oh, ok. so it's the 3.8?"

wait,
isn't inline 6 different from straight 6?
like bwm uses inline 6 and porsches uses straight 6.
