New Flywheel Needed??

Default New Flywheel Needed??

I am doing a full engine rebuild and am getting a new stage 2 clutch with a whole plether of other things.. Should a get a new flywheel? Dont really think i need to.. my car has 100,000 miles on it

Why would i need a new one??

When you say whole engine rebuild?? Built motor? 8 bolt Cobra Crank?

You don't unless your old one is really, really heat stressed and cracking. Throw an aluminum flywheel in there and feel the revs climb faster.

Well this is what i mean:
forged Pistons and Rods
My crank re-grinded
MMR is porting my heads to stage 2
Stage 2 Cams from VT
New Spec stage 2 Clutch
Pypes stainless LT headers and O/R Mid pipe
A/C Delete
New chrome bullet rims 17x9 up front, and 17x10.5 in rear and nitto nt555r tires
MGW short throw

..bout it haha i just listed everything im doing in next couple weeks..

Im thinking what the hell just replace it with that aluminum flywheel... ehh never mind **** ha its 300 bucks (specs is)

you should. it is less rotating mass so you should feel it and see the increase in performance on the dyno. less mass=freed up hp. the revs should climb faster too.

If your mainly intersted in straight line performance and not a circuit track guy, skip the lighter flywheel.

As stated above, does it show bad signs of blueing/hot spots or heat cracks? You can have it resurfaced to clean it up, but if it is bad enough, I would just replace it. The aluminum flywheel would be nice, but if not in the budget, the stock replacement will do just fine.
