You're getting a deal at $400. If you want to do it on your own, I hope you know how to remove a k-member

Removing the K-member is almost a requirement. That way the shop doing the work can get a torque wrench on the bolts and they won't come loose.(mine haven't)
$400 is a good price for the install but if you have to crawl under the car to look for loose bolts,,,,,maybe not.
I had the Ford dealer do mine after I set myself on fire with a cuttin' torch and it cost $620.

The part under your car that supports the trans/etc, it's connected to a lot of things and a major pain in the *** to remove. If you have patience and some knowledge, you can probably do it in 6-10 hours, depending. I'd really recommend biting the bullet and finding a shop you can trust and have them do it.

To remove the K member? I hope you mean for the whole job. And 400 isn't worth it if they say you'll have to keep tighten bolts, because when the bolts start coming loose, then you could start blowing the gaskets, and you don't want to keep screwing with that. If you do it yourself, you need to have the right tools, like engine lift, good floor jack, jackstands. You can't just drop the K member without supporting the engine from above, it will serve no purpose. Do you have any experince with this kind of work? If not it could prove to be quite taxing on your nerves.

Yeah I meant 6-10 hours for the whole job, sorry for lack of clarification. And with no car experience, find a solid shop that will install it properly. I mean, I'm having mine installed today, $525 for headers and midpipe, but it's guaranteed to be solid work with no problems. Anyway, keep looking around for shops.
