Default CAI question

i have notice that when im driving around for a hour or so when i get home i pop the hood and my bbk cold air aluminum inlet pipe is extremely hot. I originaly bought it cause i thought it looked good under the hood with my polished accufab plenum/ throttle body an thought it might pull a little cooler air from the fender. But im concerned about the way it absorbs heat. i have the stock rubber inlet pipe and a drop in k&n filter that i can put back on if need be. I just dont know whether to spend the money on a jlt kit or do something strange like a marchram air scoop kit into the airbox a k&n. Sucks though paid 200 for the bbk kit. Any advice would be great.

Metal CAI's suck. They absorb heat since they're metal. And your stock components with a K&N will work better than the BBK.

if you do decide to replace it, def go with JLT.

their intakes arent metal for that very reason.

the more chromed out your engine is the more heat it is going to retain.

This is a quite true and alittle known fact--the underside of the chrome plating reflects radiant heat back into the engine/header/whatever heat source thingy that has been plated...

i never really felt much of a difference, although I have been told that you have to get more than 10 hp to feel anything
