intake plenum and tb
my car is a 2004 gt auto completly stock.is it worth itto upgrade my tb and plenum also with a cai?i have herd it would be worthless unless u had aftermarket heads a/or more mods to go along with it.
i plan on doing them... but i plan on doing alot of **** all at once, and cams are one of those things
heres a way to put it in perspective
friends car, 03gt, 5 speed
stock-14.2
cai, mid pipe, catback, tb(no plenum) bigger maf and a tune-13.6
so i guess thats decent... but... my car... 02gt, stock-13.7... so did the mods make him faster? or did him driving like i told him to(shift points, and launches) make that differance?

Not worth it with out the head and cams , Go for either gears or exhaust or a shifter to start with. As for the CAI It wouldnt hurt to add one , If you do go with one Id recommend a JLT RAI , CAI / K&N or a Denscharger stay away from metalized ones. A cheap but pretty sweet alternate to the CAI is to just drop 50 bucks on a K&N air filter and delete the snorkel.
Do the exhaust first, a 2-1/2" catted X-pipe and 2-1/2" catback will open things up at higher revs. Then get a handheld or PC based tuner and load a 93 octane tune.Exhaust and a premium fuel tune will get you perhaps 10 rwHP peak vs. stock, but more importantly willadd 10-15 rwHP (maybe more) throughout the mid and upper-mid rpms--where you really can use it.The stock plenum is the weak point in the upper intake. If you look at Accufab's flow data (reformatted and commented here), you'll see that all aftermarket plenums (except the C&L which did poorly in general) can flow more air with the OEM 65 mm TB, than can the OEM plenum with even a 75 mm TB.So, if you only want to do one, do the plenum first. A 70 mm TB and aftermarket plenum will not do much until 5000 rpm and up, however it will add a bit of peak HP (maybe 5) and will extend the power band right up to red line.A cheapaftermarket air filter/intake tube will do nothing, and might even hurt performance if it's cheap enough. Even the expensive "tuned" intakes such as the JLT will not add more than a few HP.Headers (long tube, forget "shorties") can add power in the places you can really use it (2500 to 4500 rpm), but don't look for huge peak gains. The next options are things that make more of the engine's power usable in making the car go. Underdrive pulleys can get some of it back by decreasing the amount consumed by engine driven accessories. An aluminum drive shaft will take less power to spin, so that power goes to the wheels instead.Lower (numerically higher) rear-end gears willmake the car accelerate faster, at the expense of fuel economy depending on where and how youdrive. There's other stuff too, however those listed above are what most people do. I will be adding an aluminum drive shaft sometime before the end of the summer.

We went to a party yesterday with a bunch of my daughter's lesbian friends (I don't know, maybe it's something we did, whatever?)--I thought I might get to see something neat, but no luck--the burgers. ribs, and beer were nice...
