Default suspension question

hi, quick question, im doing my rear shocks on my 97 mustang gt, and i noticed that it looks as if there are a second pair of shocks here, what are the shock looking tubes that good almost vertical on the rear part r the rear suspension? thanks a bunch!

Those are the Quad shocks.

they help with traction and wheel hop... At least they are supposed to help

I hope youre not talking about the quad shocks?? You dont need to replace those.

Just take them off and leave them off. It will give you a little more tire clearance and help some with launch.

Don't listen to the above statement. Leave them on. They slow the rotation of the axle during a hard launch to stop/slow wheel hop. They are there for a reason. Some will say you can take them off when you upgrade your lower control arms but unless you upgrade them with solid bushings leave them.

should they be replaced when i do my rears, i'm going to lower it one day? what have you guys who have lowered your cars done with your quad shocks?
