Default Ceramic brakes

Question for any of you with ceramic brakes.

I had some installed a week or two ago, and they squeak ridiculously when I'm braking. Is this normal for these type of brakes?

I thought brakes only squeak when they are at the sensors, or when they are rubbing.

Thoughts?

I put cheapo ceramics on and they did the same thing man. I swapped them after like 1000 miles for some good ol hawk performance pads and love em.

no the hawk brand, but i just got ceramics for the rears with oem brembos. Works great, took me a little longer after i noticed the caliper piston has to be turned back into place instead of the normal clamping action, lol, oh well. But after driving it around all day under moderate braking i havn't seen any dust =)

Pep-Boys has a verygood line of ceramic pads, that come with anti-squeal compound to be applied to the back of the pad and anti-squeal shims. Been using them for 6 or 7 years on various vehicles including my '03 GTnever had a problem...An awful lot of shops just throw that stuff away because it takes a tiny bit of extra time to smear it on and they basically just don't give a crap... It also helps to use some fine Metalite cloth to break the glaze and remove rust on the caliper and piston where the pads make contact, and them apply a bit of anti-squeal compound to those points as well. In the last, CRC makes a great product called Brake Quiet, it comes as a viscous compound and in a spray can and will quite the most stubborn brakes, If you are using it on pads that have been run for a while make sure you degrease and clean well with brake cleanerand make sure the pads go back in the same position they came from!!!

I've got Raybesto's ceramic pads on my car and I LOVE them!! Brake dust is practically non-existent! I can clean my rims, and a week later they still look clean! No noise either!
