SPark Problems yet again!
OK so awhile back about 6 months ago I changed the plugs since my car was all jumpy after the manifold swap. Fixed the problem. Then about 3 weeks ago I washed down the engine and the car became very jumpy and missing. No codes came up. I changed the plugs and it fixed the problem. Well today it was raning pretty hard and well guess what? The damn car started its **** again! I just put new plugs in 3 weeks ago! Im thinking its a COP or boots since when its wet it does it.
Is it possible that when I put new plugs in it "covered up" and made up for a weak spark on a coil over plug? Or do you think the moisture from the rain did it? It was fine all day driving, I came home and let it sit. I didnt drive it in the rain actually. It just sat there. Fired her up tonight to go get some tobacco products and that when it started. I tried checking them last time with an OHM meter but couldnt figure it out, they all read something like 1.0 and that was no where near what it should have been reading, they were all the same however. Maybe I had the meter on the wrong setting?
WHats the correct way to check the COPs/ The boots have tiny cracks in them but it didnt seem like enough for the spark to arc to the head through it. Any suggestions?

Any cracks in the COP boots are bad, you're trying to contain 40,000 volts here...If there's no DTC being thrown then the COPs are probably OK, the PCM doesn't know whether the secondary discharge fired the plug or bled off to ground. You can get COP "tune up kit" (a new spring and boot) here for $3 a pop.
lol I was looking on partsamerica.com - advance autos online store and couldnt find anything....Ill check wit them tomorrow, all the guys at the stores around here are high school kids who dont know ****. I like to get a part number from that site before I go so I dont have to bother with them, I just give them the number and save hassel.
I did the same thing and couldn't find just the spring and boot. Ford has aTSB (TSB 03-14-4)that says50% of COPs returned under warranty are fine, and that it was some other mis-diagnosed problem; like a cracked boot... As these cars get to be 10 years old the boots are giving up, and sure enough replacing the COP (along with a new boot) fixes the problem...
