I'd assume with his inexperience he probably doesn't mean 300rwhp. So, to the OP: if you'rejust looking for 300 crank horsepower, you need full bolt ons, which consists of upper plenum, throttle body, K&N air filter (or cold air intake), long tube headers, mid-pipe, and cat-back exhaust. With those, you should be right around 300 crank HP. Still to do all of that with install is roughly $2,000 total.

just to let you know, if you don't know the difference from what we are talking about crank hp is what the engine puts out, but you lose some by the time it gets to the wheels so everytime we refer to hp, its at the wheels because that is all that matters..don't feel like an idiot, i knew nothing about building mustangs when i got one, but you learn quickly......it does get very expensive to mod, but it is an addiction well worht the price... i always love it when i do something new and hear people on the forum talk about how good it looks, then i go driving and get compliments all the time..(like my new wheels) but good luck and start saving, i went the full bolt on route and then i am going to spray it... there are several things that you could do to that will improve your stang significantly... 1st lower it, second chin spoiler and grill delete those alone will make it look 100000000x better

You guys are really helpful i never realized how much work actually goes into these cars to get high performance. I probably come across as the biggest retard, but anyways all your help is really appreciated

Not at all. There is a big learning curve with these cars. You will pick up on it as you go. Just have fun with it, but I'm gonna go ahead and warn you, its addictive, and expensive.
GOD is that sooooo TRUE lol....

Look into MM&FF... its a magazine. (muscle mustangs and fast fords) they have articles and parts.. etc. Just look around on the internet... try out www.americanmuscle.com. There is descriptions by everything. If you have questions, just ask.

Some other sites to look at... www.steeda.com www.bbkperformance.com www.macperformance.com

If you want to get familiar with working on your car, go to your local auto parts store and see if they have a chiltons or haynes manual about your car.. They normally carry them.

I would have to agree w/ the nitrous idea for cheap horsepower. I would recommend that you upgrade your clutch too if you have a five speed. As far as staying in the 300-400 dollar range, your best bet is a short throw shifter(five speed), full exhaust, and gears. The full exhaust should be the first mod IMHO since the sound is priceless.Once you do these basic mods, you mine as well just start saving for big mods such as forced induction, heads, or nitrous.
Good luck w/ the modding. You will pick it up fast.

Go for gears first, its instant gratification! I agree w/ nitrous for the cheap big power.
