tko500 or a T56?

WellI was a TKO 500 hard headed buyer but nowI'm going with the T-56..... Both have the same strength rating except th T-56 offers the extra gear for the highway which is perfect for my track/street car.

I have done alot of research lately on transmissions when I was looking for the one I wanted. For the most part TKOs have a very bad problem shifting at high rpms. Mostly you get locked out of 3rd. Most have to get them faceplated which isnt very nice on the street.
I ended up going through promotion and getting their 3650 which is a built 3650 to handle 750 hp and has a 26 spline input. They sell t45s, tkos, and t56s all built.

I know im not a mod motor guy but I studied both tranny's and went with a tko 600, Its stronger than a cobra spec t-56, has a 26 spline input, a similar od and is cheaper.

The "getting locked outa 3rd" is because of inferior shift lugs on some of the TKO 500's. Tremec will send you the upgraded ones for free! The biggest problem (I know, got one) with the TKO is in the shift fingers they also need upgrading on some units.

Thanks guys
I just know a guy with a 03/04 cobra, T-56 upgraded to Viper Spec running 4.30s in the back and is revving 2000rpm in 6th going 80mph on the highway..... where as my 3650 with 3.73s gets around 3,000 and my friends tko 500 w/ 4.10s gets 2,800......
And sorry about that primetime.... the internet here in Iraq is slow and when someone posts something up. I don't usually see it till later.

thats the viper spec edition which is 100x better than a cobra spec.. Im comparing tko's to cobra spec t-56's, and the older tkos seemed to have the shifting problems, mine works just fine

Yah, you guys are right. My cobra spec T56 is trash. I'll let you guys know when I blow it up, plus I really hate cruising in TOWN in 5th and not hitting a brick wall when I do the 4-5 shift.
