happened to me, and when it backed out it stripped all the threads in my head, the repair cost me only $30 but wow it was a hell of a time, ford wanted $980 or so witha 50% sucess rate... no thanks. I went to advanced and bought a sav-a-thread kit, it had 3 inserts and a punch along with a tap. I have tapered seats to my sparkplug, im not sure if you do, but if you do its all the more a pain. I put some vasoline on the end of the tap, screwed it in a few times then backed it out, cleaned off the metal put on more vasoline then got back to it, eventually i tapped through all of my tapers and to the depth of the sparkplug. The kit comes with an aluminum insert, which i used atv high temp sillicone to make it stick at the proper length, i had to make sure it wouldn't hit the piston,(plug) the clearence was very slim. After this was done, i inserted my sparkplug(with the insert on the end)and gotthe insert to stick into the head.but there was one problem, the plug kept trying to thread deeper into the insert and would not stick.Normally the taper would hold it in place but i had to tap through it. I then dremeled out another one of the inserts (it comes with 3) that i was not using, and stuck the sparkplug through that one, to the middle of the plug, right above the threads to act as a taper. I stuck it in and it got snug, I let it sit for about 12 hours to let the silicone harden. I started her up and volia, at first she was running weird but i re-checked the firing order and problem solved, good as new, the sad thing is she sat for a while for what turned out to be a $30 fix.
hope this helps and good luck.

$150 doesnt seem like a bad deal at all....i've never had to get a heli-coil job done before...but i thought they were pretty expensive for some reason. expensive being a lot more than $150.
My driver and passenger side plugs backed out. I went through and found a few others that were stripped. I had to put in three time-serts (like a helicoil, but safer) and the kit cost me about $400 after shipping. I did the install, the leaks are gone, now she runs much better than before!
