there not bsing you , the metal conducts the heat from the engine way more then a plastic Cai would. Check out K&N , a densecharger or JLT . All in all you can save money by using a K&N air filter instead or get a JLT RAI wich is like 150 bucks.

They really aren't that much of an improvement if any. I've heard good things of a JLT RAI but they are about $200 for a GT. Cheaper just getting a K&N filter and saving the rest of the money for something else.

id definately go with a JLT if i bought a cold air intake. the chrome pipe will conduct some extra heat on the bbk.. im running with the stock tube and k&n filter

like everyone else said, just get a K&N filter drop in. ive had all kinds of intakes on my previous vehicles, from plastic to metal and even silicone piping. metal is bad. unless you can deflect the heat going to it. which is just added expense and doesnt work 100% of the time

i hate to be the one to say this, but has anyone read the temperature of air from a metal CAI? 1. the metal does not get that hot, and the air will be flowing through it so fast, it will not heat up the air.

if that were the case....there would be no such thing as "heat soak"...although the the performance loss isnt really that much from it....it does still occur...especially after some long driving.

if you are going to spend the money on a cai/rai, i would (and did) go with jlt for sure!

can you show me numbers to back that up? if it made such a huge impact on performace, why aren't all the supercharger intake tubes made of pvc? you will not see that much of a difference in air temperature to affect performance... well atleast not enough to spend $200 on 2 hp.... jlt is a waste of money
