Street/Strip suspension setup
I'm starting to look into some suspension, and the first place it looks like I'll start this winter is the struts and shocks. For now it's a daily driver. I'm planning on coilovers all the way around, probably from MMR. Unless someone can sway me otherwise, I'll probably end up with either Competition Engineering or Lakewood 70/30 struts up front. The rear is a different situation. What is a good adjustable street/strip shock? So far I've seen the Competition 3 ways, the Chris Alston Varishocks, and the Strange 10 ways. What's my best bet to get this car to hook?
A VERY effective and affordable street/strip set up is as follows:
Strange 10 way adj front struts and rear shocks
Fox body 4 cyl front springs
Stock 99-04 GT rear springs with dead coil cut off
upper/lower CA's...double adj to adjust for pinion angle
Weld up torque boxes and axle tubes
Remove front sway bar
If ya wanna really want it to go straight and hard...UPR rear anti-roll bar
Strange 10 way adj front struts and rear shocks
Fox body 4 cyl front springs
Stock 99-04 GT rear springs with dead coil cut off
upper/lower CA's...double adj to adjust for pinion angle
Weld up torque boxes and axle tubes
Remove front sway bar
If ya wanna really want it to go straight and hard...UPR rear anti-roll bar
I was actually kinda looking into getting the MM 3 link style setup w/ an anti roll bar. Shocks and struts w/ springs are just the first step. What is the benefit of removing the front sway bar?
