doesn't MM&FF show a huge gain with just about everything they test? I've always said that I'd like to see some real world before and after results with just an intake swap but nobody ever seems to do it. I've heard too many complaints from people that have that intake.

not like I had to dig far, this is a current thread that I was in... read # 45
http://www.m0ddedmustangs.com/forums...50-shot-3.html swap the 0 for a o

most people rarely complain about a product they have on their car because everyone thinks they have the best stuff (that's why everyone tells you to get what they have) so when you see someone complain about a product they have and refer to it as "junk" it gets your attention. I have heard many many people complain about that intake, everywhere from no real gain to an actual power loss compared to other intakes and just poor quality such as leaks, etc.

I saw that article when they published it; it's about what I would expect, andit is important to keep in mind that these gainswere achievedon a highly modded(heads and cams in particular) n/a engine. On a stock PI engine the intake is pretty damned good as is, the weak points being above5400 or so rpmwhere the upperplenum first, and then the TB, become problematic. Onan unmodified PI engine the gains from the Typhoon intake would beminimal as thestock intake manifold is quite capable of delivering all that the OEM PI heads and cams need. This is where all the "Typhoon sucks" stories come from, people thinking thatbolting one on is going to turn their stocker into some sort of fire breathing monster...

Yeah, I realise you were not holding that article up as a torch...My point was that the article is the typical vendor sponsoredadvertorial magazine article. It where the "up to xHP" claims come from. They take a highly modified engine and then compare stock components to their magical stuff, and then advertise about the miraculous gains so as to convince some poor slob with a dead stock car that an intake manifold, CAI, COPs, or wehatever will add 35 HP...
