Default WOW...what a difference !

I just installed my Steeda tri-ax shifter. While I was at it, I changed the tranny fluid and added a Mach 1 shift **** to match the silver interior trim. The difference in shift quality is just amazing. Its not so much the shorter throw that I like, but the fact that the tranny goes into gear with a much more tight and secure feeling. If you have not made this upgrade yet, it needs to be the next thing you do. Installation was a snap and I'm nobody's mechanic. I saved a lot of trouble by filling the tranny fluid through the shifter opening while I had it open.

I have a steeda tri-ax on my mach and I love it, I had to get rid of the factory **** though what a pain in the rear end when racing, offers no grip at all.

On my 04, the drain was at the bottom center at the rear of the tranny. VERY easy to access and there-fill through the shifter opening was a snap. I would highly recommend that if you are going to have the shifter off anyway, use that big opening to re-fill tranny. Much easier than having to pump it through the fill hole on the side of the tranny.

Good luck man! I actually remember hating my MGW short throw when I first installed it because I basically had to relearn how to time my shifts but now I can see that I do agree with pretty much everyone that a short throw shifter is a must!
