Default Won the trophy dash tonight !!!

After breaking out and finishing second last week, I ran similar test times tonight and lowered my dial in a tenth and won the 1/4 mile trophy race tonight! Here is info from my winning timeslip:

Index 14.76
RT .566
60 ft 2.183
1/8 9.609
1/8 mph 75.35
1/4 14.803
1/4 mph 95.57

I realize a lot of folks run much quicker times with new edge GT's, but I don't power shift and don't bounce off rev limiter since this is also my daily driver. The race is indexed so I try for smooth, consistent runs.

Guys, I am hooked so bad its not funny. The Tri-ax shifter and the 3.73 really help and I honestly don't plan any more mods for the car. The factory street tires hook up ok if I do my job since they spray quite a bit of track-bite down. I also learned shifting from 1>2 at 4-5K instad of 5,500 eliminates the wheel spin I was getting in second. All the street car races are indexed, so now its up to me to keep learning and getting more consistent.

I thought about trying the whole powershifting thing, then I realized it wouldn't help me in an index race. I do stand on the gas (literally!) in every gear and shift at about 5000 to 5500 rpm, so its not a Sunday drive. I am now striving for smooth, consistent runs and a good start light on every run, including test and tune runs. That way I don't beat on the car too bad and if I can run 14.8 every single run, I should be hard to beat. A couple of guys broke out of index trying to run me down. Are you really struggling to break 2.1 in the 60 ft or were you just messing with me? If true, try revving the car to no more than 2500 rpm when you leave the line, then mash the gas just as soon as it gets moving, and then go to second before you hit red line to reduce wheel spin. My buddy's Dad taught me that and I'm now getting 60 ft in 2.1 sec.

You shouldn't have a problem hitting a 2.1 60. I've hit 2.080 on street tires with stock gears and managed pretty consistant 2.1's. Mike's definately right about launching low, you're better off around 2500rpm if you've got streets.

I'm not powershifting. I shift just like I would normal driving (come off throttle a bit and use clutch), just a bit faster. I don't want to beat too hard on the car and as long as I run consistent times, there's no real advantage to going any faster in a bracket race.
