what would you do?
so ive been contemplating for a long time on what i should do. either keep modding up my gt or stop and start saving up to get the car of my dreams which is a viper and sell my gt. im only 21 and i would need to save up alittle bit prolly about a year or two to put down on one to keep my payments the same as my car right now. i know i could use that money and make the gt really fast but the thought of owning a viper has always intrigued me. plus it would be cool only being 22 and owning a viper. if yall had the choice what would yall do? o and i want a gts not a srt-10

If it's what you really want and you really think you can pay for it, then go for it. I personally love the idea of a fully built GT that's capable of blowing the doors off a Viper, but hey. I bleed blue.
Well, Im kinda of like you. I have a vert daily driver with some money it. But my goals/uses exceeded the platform. So I bought an el cheapo with 150k miles on it and im guttin it, for a no bs build. I would not get a viper for a daily driver. If you really want a viper, a gts is certianly attainable. I would sell the GT, get a cheap honda daily driver - just more gas money savings to put toward your viper and go that route. You wouldnt want to tear up a viper as a daily driver, at least I wouldnt
no it wouldnt be a daily driver and all the mods i really would want to do is full exhaust which i still a pretty penney, but i love the wow factor with a viper especially since there is only one here where i live
my girlfriend's viper was nice, but at the way it pisses gas and the insurance being about $670 a month you'll be thinking completely different. At least for now, anyways. It was a red 2003 convertible. I hate convertibles, but I guess a Viper is a Viper, right? I know if you wanted an older one you can buy them from 25K-40K (GTS's are obviously going to be considerably alot more but usually sit at 40-75K used) depending on what years. After selling my other car I had been considering getting one myself, but after asking how much her insurance was I quickly changed my mind. I'm only 21 myself, and while high insurance doesn't bother me - that brings a whole new meaning to 'high' .. more like insane.
oh, and another thing.. as you can probably assume... every single part on that car down to the badges are not cheap, so if you want to modify it you're going to need a deep pocket. You also need to keep in mind that a car like that is prone to getting damaged and you can't just go around and park the car in a parking lot and expect nobody is going to want to try to get in it, steal it, or **** with it simply because it's a viper and because they don't have one and it's a rare car they feel they need to take shots at it.
I'd say those cars were made to be driven on sunny days, and only to be parked in the garage of your home and nowhere else. Just my opinion though. There's ALOT that goes into owning a car like that. Big price to pay for big luxury. Especially at our age.

I am a tad bit older then you and id tell you, horrible idea.
1) unless your working full time, have your own house and make some good income... why waste everything you have in a car that will just keep draining you? my moms BF works at a dodge dealership, those viper engines aint cheap and they arent exactly reliable either...
2) what on earth could you possibly be doing that you are out handling the sn95 platform? have you seen the griggs GR40 hillclimbing cobra? that thing is a vert and outruns ferraris on a freakin' hill climb.
3) the wow factor, that is the only part where i would agree with you BUT i quickly disagree with the stupid phrase IT WOULD BE COOL TO BE 22 AND OWN A VIPER. there is a reason 22 year olds cant afford them, its called LACK OF EXPERIENCE. i hope you realized that until 02 i believe it is, they lacked ABS. compound that along with 400+ lbs of torque and your asking for trouble.
alot of things would be cool at 22, if you want real recognition, buy a place of your own... not only would it make your parents proud but everyone else your age will truly be envious and besides you can borrow against a house to buy a car but you cant really borrow against a car to buy a house.
4) de-pre-ci-ation and re-pairs. stick the a mustang, honda, or corvette.
hell an NSX has a wow factor and those things have amazing engines, so do lotuses for that matter... maybe look into those 2??
my opinion though, take it for what its worth.

Yeah at your age insurance is probably still gonan be pretty high i'd check up on all the insurance and stuff first, if its not to bad and you can afford it without constantly busting your *** and you actually have time and money to enjoy it go for it.
Thats a great point, have your own place is alot cooler than having a nice car.
Cars can get you in the door with chicks - if your game is a little weak
(not saying a beat is good either) but what are gonna do? ---> pick up a hottie and take her home to mama?

Most your age are driving standard civics, focuses, etc.
