Mustangs did indeed "use pushrods for a while". It was 32 years before the first OHC engine was used, and 40 years before they went away completely (the 3.8L V-6 in used up until the 2005 model year is a pushrod engine).

First, your car came from the factory with a CAI, and a pretty decent one at that--that's why most aftermarket CAIs add little to no power, and some of thereal cheap ones can even hurt power output. Buy one if you like, but with the exception of some of the high-end units (JLT comes mind) you're just throwing money away.
Intercoolers are devices used with forced induction setups to cool the intake air that has been compressed (and therefore heated) by the supercharger/turbocharger. Unless you are running f/i you don't need one.
