Question Wheel widths?

Im about to but some new wheels. Im going for some black bullitt replicas from american muscle. I will get deep dish 17"s 10.5 wide with 315/35/17 on the back.
I was thinking about 17 by 8 with standard dish and a 245/45/17

But now i am about to buy i am having second thoughts about 8" and thinking about 9"
I thought that 8 and 10.5 would make the back wheel/tire look wider! would the thinner front give me bad understeer?

What do you all run? are there any pros or cons to the above setups?

No i dont think that it is advisable or even posible to put a 315 on a 9 inch rim

I was thinkin a 255 or 265 on a 9 inch rim, what ever is recomended.

I have 315/35/17's on 10.5 rims. I can't see them mounted on 9" rim's. That would look funny to me.

I think you should keep the factory front. I don't think you would notice any understeer unless you went with 3.5" rims "pizza cutters". I'm running stock front and 10.5 rear right now but soon I'm going to put Pro Star 15 X 12 rims for the rear and 15 X 3.5 front.

As far a stock wheel go I dont own any! i bought my stang used and they had some polished aluminum american racing vintage torque thrust 2s(think old vintage looking bullitts). they are a b!tch to keep looking nice and i think from measuring and lookin at tirerack.com that they must be 17" by 9.5" and have 265/something/17 kumo exstas tires or something like that. they are a deepdish on all 4 corners (i hated that when i bought the car) I think that a deepdish all aroung looks nasty but i guess i got used to it and the car was a good deal cheaper than most others at the time of purchase. also the tires look to narrow for the rims (side walls are sloped at a wierd angle) and i guess because its lowered 1.5 inches or so the front rims rub on the antiroll bar when turning full lock
