Default How important is the bumper support?

Ok well I went to mount my intercooler today and realized my saw wasn't gonna cut it lol...so I said screw it and mounted it with an aluminum bracket where the bumper support would be. I figured since I would be significantly cutting the bumper support it would greatly weaken it anyway. I'm lookin for some opinions on this

do you have a simple reciprocating saw or a dremel with a bunch of cut off wheels?

it took me about 3 hours to make a bracket to hold my PS pump on my fox(i took out the a/c compressor and had to chop the damn near 1/2" bracket down)

dremel + cut-off wheel plus thick steel= your gonna be there for a while lol

It'll work though, that's why I prefer the reciprocating saw, or maybe an open face grinder

Guys have been removing bumper supports to put in large heat-exchangers/intercoolers for years. It may make it less efficient at absorbing a front-end collision, but that's not really your concern is it?

No, the bumper support isn't going to keep your frame from twisting or anything, it's just there to add a little more support if the front end gets beat up. Don't worry about trimming it a little to fit the FMIC on it.

the crumple zones in the fender's are far more effective at absorbing a front end collision than the little front bumper support, so don't worry about it, just trim it a little to fit that FMIC on there.
