Default 18" wheels & performance

I just "G-teched" my 02 GT, and got a 14.8 @ 95 mph, granted this was in far from ideal conditions,(dust covered, bumpy country road) Plus a lot of wheel spin in 1st & 2nd,& carefull but quick shifting(not power shifts) anyway, my car has 18" Bullitt wheels on it, 8s on the front 10s in back Are these slowing the car down ? Car has BBK c.a.intake,Flowmaster muffs & Hurst short throw shifter.

Some will say 18's are for show. The tires are more expensive! I'm no tire expert, but if you were to switch, you'd be going from an 18x10 to a 17x10.5 in the rear if you wanted to keep that aggressive stance. Just get you the NX plate kit and call it a day.

Yes 18's are slowing you down. My buddy didn't believe me until i let him put a set of my 17's on his car and he ran 2 thenths faster. Needless to say he traded someone for a set of 17's the next week.

Plus 18's look like **** with drag radials.

I totally disagree. How much power are you running? I'll tune my car to what your running, *although I think your running close to what I'm running*, and let you drive my car. 3200lbs with driver vs. 3600-3800lbs with driver, and you can tell me which one you think is faster.

The Hurst works great, but I can't compare it to much, since it came with the car, (along with the other mods.) I'll probably keep the 18s on for now & maybe get some smaller wheels for racing. I was shifting at the factory redline, around 5700-5900 can you go much higher safely?
