He has a Mach 1, so your post is far from being revelant.

You're looking at way more than 4k... texid blocks sell for more than a used 2v longblock. You need valves springs retainers, head gaskets, tune etc etc.

For $4K I would get a piston and rod kit. With rings and bearings it should cost around $900-$1000. Then you have to get the assembly balanced $200. Plus boring and honing (if your gonna bore it which i would)will cost $150-$200. Then I would get the heads cleaned up and better springs installed $300-$400. Then put together a blower set up for $1500-$1800. That will leave you with $400-$600 for odds and ends like gaskets and fluids.

That's pretty much where i'm leaning. I was looking into a forged bottom end and a set of really aggressive cams, but I don't think I'm going to get the power returns that I want if I would be staying N/A. It's helping I'm doing all the labor, the only labor I'm really paying for is the tune in the end. Where do you recommend I find a piston and rod kit for that amount, eBay? All the total costs for piston/rod combos from the places I've looked (like lethal performance) come out to around $1200, and that's without rings or bearings.

If your looking to make big numbers then you will be paying $1200 for rods, pistons, rings and bearings. You can find them at that price from propower performance parts. They have an ebay store.

And? It doesnt mean he cant change his setup. You can pull a texad block fron junkyard for cheap. But easy powe I would honestly throw a vortech and call it good.

He already has an aluminum block thats good to 1000hp and 4v heads which means no P51 intake for him.

I'm gunning for around 500whp, basically. I'm trying to avoid having to spend another big chunk of money by buying a whole Cobra fuel system. Will the $900-1000 setups take that safely? Sorry for all the questions, i'm just making dead sure what build i'm going with before I start dropping thousands. Been down that road, and changing plans is never cheap.
