I'm having my heads ported and valved. I just can't trust buying new heads then have the possibility that there is something wrong from the factory, IE wrong springs, bad seat/seals... I trust my machine shop a lot more than I trust patriot and it's cheaper too.

I take it since youre having the mechanic you trust do the port/polish job, that you're having them do the cam install as well.

Excluding all your parts, what're you paying for labor? *please include all the head work to..*

$400 for the bigger valves and porting plus 350 for assembly of the long block. I was going to Assemble the long block then take the engine to them and have them do the cams but I figured what another 200 bucks.

I wanted to install the cams myself but after I bought the cam tools I would have spent 150+ buck and I still would be like a monkey ******* a football trying to get the cams correct.

A&A in Davison, Michigan. Great shop and they even have a dyno. They can do anything there except tune it. They mostly build vipers, GN and high number Muscle cars.
