Anyone here from South Central PA and know of a good speed shop or two to have my heads ported and polished, and cams installed?

 

I know of K&G Speed in Broomall.
Watash Speed in Hatfield<ithink.
2nd Street Speed in Perkasie.
Swarr Auto in Graterford<thats where I go.
There is also Performance Specialties in Pottstown.
Most will probably send the heads out to do the work.

 

Whoever you use, make sure that they are a reputable shop. Head porting is not something that any "average joe" can do, regardless of what some members in here will say. Get it done by someone who does it professionally. On that note, i recommend you send the heads off to foxlake. They are located in Ohio and if you have any questions, Ron Robart who has been doing head porting for over 20 years now is the owner. Check out the site. www.foxlakeracing.com and you can email or call with any questions you may have. Do you already have the cams or are you looking to buy those as well.

 

i am looking to buy the cams as well. I know some shops that will do the whole package for around $1500 (anyone know if that is worth it, or is it better to just spend a little extra and s/c?)

I mentioned Performance Specialties because I was going to take my car there to get tuned. I left two messages and no one got back to me. Later on I heard bad things about their work.

where you located in south central pa? I'm in south central also. The place I always go to is SGS Automotive, previously known as Kauffman Motorsports. They are 4.6 gurus, the tuner owns a 96 cobra drag car so they know much about 4.6. They are located in Dillsburg.

 

I actually just called there yesterday, I race up at quarter aces (formally South Mountain) with my father so I have seen many of their cars. I plan to call again on monday to see what their rates are for some of the stuff. I just wanted to get some other options, although I have heard that they are very good.

BTW, where are you from? I am in East Berlin (obviously not far from SGS).

 

I'm right out of carlisle where the car shows take place every fall/spring. I've been to quarter aces too, its pretty nice up there, but i dont know if ive seen sgs cars there.
